The Cabrini field hockey team earned its first win of the 2010 season on Saturday afternoon, blanking Landmark Conference opponent Drew University, 2-0. Junior forward Lauren Alessi and junior midfielder Maura Gordon each scored one goal, and senior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue recorded the 10th shutout of her career.

For the fourth straight year, Cabrini has finished first in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Overall President’s Cup standings. The Cavalier women also placed first in the CSAC Women’s President’s Cup standings. The Blue & White men listed second.

The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has honored 55 Cabrini student-athletes for the Fall 2009 semester as all-academic performers, the league announced today. The conference recognizes each student-athlete that meets the NCAA Division III eligibility requirements, earns varsity status in his or her respective sport and posts a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 for the semester.

As a result of the Fall 2009 seasons, Cabrini ranks tied for 43rd nationally in the latest release of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) 2009-10 Division III Learfield Sports Director’s Cup standings. The Cavaliers advanced four teams in the 2009 NCAA Tournament in November.

Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue has been crowned the NCAA statistical champion for save percentage for the 2009 season. Donahue helped the Cavaliers to its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title and NCAA Tournament appearance with a nation’s-best .886 save percentage.
